In-Store Training Classes

Woodlands Pet Food & Treats is proud to host in-store training classes with renowned training experts Michael Wombacher and Michael Schoen.  You and your puppy will attend 6 weekly one-hour classes.  Currently, these classes take place in our Mill Valley and Novato locations on Wednesday evenings.

About Mike Wombacher:  Michael Wombacher has been involved with dogs for more than twenty five years. He has performed more than 30,000 in-home behavioral consultations covering the entire spectrum of dog behavior from the mundane to the bizarre.  And of course, he has led hundreds of group training classes to great acclaim.  Mike’s training approach focuses on channeling a dog’s natural drives and instincts into behaviors acceptable in the human pack, primarily through the principles of positive reinforcement as well as through methods that appeal to the dog’s canine sensibilities.

Puppy 1:  A must for all new puppies!  The first half of the series is dedicated to proper socialization & puppy play.  The second half covers trust and respect exercises, including sit, down, stand, stay (in each of these positions), come, off and at least one trick.  Suitable for puppies up to 20 weeks old (five months) and small-breed dogs of any age.

Puppy 2:  Level two classes are designed to take the training exercises that your pup learned in the level one class and turn them into rock solid obedience that will work in the real world in the absence of treats.  We will also introduce leash work and heeling.  This series is also appropriate for dogs of any age, as long as they're friendly with other dogs.

Registration:  Classes start every six weeks.  Tuition is $54 per week, paid as $325 when registering.  Please register in-person at any of our 4 stores.  Or, if you know this is the class for you, you can also call us to tentatively reserve a spot. Feel free to visit our Mill Valley and Novato stores on most Wednesday evenings between 6 and 8 to see classes in action, and to meet the experts class leaders in person.
